SharePoint 2010: Content Organizer Error – The Specified Name is Already in Use

If you receive this error when activating content organizer: The specified name is already in use. Please try again with a new name. Then there may already be a library called the “Drop Off Library” on your site. What you need to do is delete the current library and then try reactivating the Content Organizer feature and it should work. To delete the library, you have to use Powershell: $site = get-spweb http://site/web $dropOffLibrary = $site.Lists["Drop Off Library"] $dropOffLibrary.AllowDeletion = "True" $dropOffLibrary.Update() Once you run this command, you’ll be able to select the “Delete Library” link within the Libary Settings page.
